Brick Kiln Shiraz 2008

We believe this wine made by our two new winemakers is an excellent product from a difficult year, and is similar in many ways to the great 2005 Brick Kiln. The wine was matured in oak hogsheads (30% new, 20% French) for 18 months before bottling in October 2009. The scent of luscious berries tantalises the nose as one regards the deep purple colour of the wine in glass.

On the palate berry and plum fruit predominate, with hints of licorice, caramel and spicy pepper. The soft fruit tannins reach to the mid palate with a long lasting aftertaste. Recently awarded four stars by Winestate magazine in the April/May issue New Releases report.

"The Grove" Reserve Shiraz 2008

This wine was selected from the 2008 Brick Kiln Shiraz matured in French Oak hogsheads for 18 months. The best six barrels were put together as "The Grove" and described by James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion 2010) as "The Grove 2008 - here the best six french oak barrels (largely new) were selected, giving this full-bodied wine a distinct point of difference from the varietal, both in flavour and texture terms; while still rich, ripe and opulent, the black fruits have bettter definition. Rating 93 points - drink to 2023"

The wine is deep purple, rich in berry and plum fruit with chocolate overtones and a peppery spiciness. The palate is full and satisfying, leaving the full rich fruit taste lingering for some time.
